Citizen of Year nominations soughtBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, January 15, 2003 in the Nevada County Picayune Though the annual Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce banquet has not been set yet, the search is on for Citizen of the Year. The Citizen of the Year Award is one of the highlights of the banquet each year, as it spotlights the efforts of a citizen who has been dedicated to improving life in Prescott and Nevada County. Residents of the county are encouraged to make nominations for this award on who they think is most deserving. The rules are as follows: any county resident can submit a nomination; the nominee must be a resident of Nevada County and have their business located in the county; and nominations and the reason the person is being chosen must be submitted in writing. The selection committee will examine the nominations and make its decision based on the following criteria: outstanding service to family, city, county, state, national affairs, church related, fraternal, recreational and industrial and educational oriented services. The judges will pick the winner based on the content of the letters received, not the number alone or number of signatures. The deadline to make a nomination is Wednesday, Feb. 12. Nominations must be mailed to: Citizen of the Year, c/o Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 307 116 East 2nd Street, Prescott, Ark. 71857. Committees are currently working to set a date and theme for the banquet, along with finding an appropriate speaker. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
