Prescott Is Getting New Dialysis ClinicPublished Wednesday, April 14, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneA new kidney dialysis clinic is now open in Prescott. Dr. Mike Blankenship has opened an office at 1309 West First North. The doctor specializes in the treatment of kidney diseases and works in conjunction with dialysis centers. Most people know the function of the kidney. It is simply to rid the body of its waste. Almost 400 gallons of blood flow through the kidneys each day, according to Dr. Blankenship, arriving through the renal artery and departing through the renal vein. The kidneys also filter materials from the blood and collect around 1+ quarts of urine every day. Dr. Blankenship also operates diabetic clinics throughout the area. He can treat many conditions and diseases such as nephritis, nephrosis, kidney stones, toxemia, gout, arteriosclerosis, hypertension, diabetes, diabetic kidney diseases, impotence cases and urinary tract infection. He also performs kidney and peritoneal dialysis. Keeping the kidney healthy after treatment is imperative. Two to three quarts of fluid a day, two grams of salt, good blood pressure, and the appropriate use of aspirin and other pain relievers will all promote good health for the kidneys.
