Howard RhodesPublished Wednesday, December 18, 2002 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. Howard O. "Pete" Rhodes, 78, of Benton, died Tuesday, December 10, 2002, at Saline County Memorial Hospital in Benton. He was born September 19, 1924, in Rosston, to Olin and Effie McKissack Rhodes. He was a Baptist, lifetime member of V.F.W. and a Navy Veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents and by one sister, Evelyn McInnis. His survivors include: his wife of 53 years, Annabelle Rhodes of Benton; one son, Johnny Rhodes and Mary Henry of N. Little Rock; one daughter, Jan Thorburn and Rod of Dallas, Texas.; one brother, Raymond Harold Rhodes of Shreveport, La.; one sister, Tootsie Davis of Shreveport, La.; four grandchildren, Grant Thorburn, Grayson Thorburn, Jason Rhodes, and Ashley Zia; and one great-granddaughter. Memorial services were 2 p.m., Saturday, December 14, 2002, at Brazzelle/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott with Rev. Bob Riley officiating. Burial in Reddick Cemetery in Stephens.
