Charles WileyPublished Wednesday, December 18, 2002 in the Gurdon TimesCharles Allen Wiley, 55, of Flint, Michigan, died Friday, November 22, 2002. Mr. Wiley was born on January 23, 1947, in Gurdon, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence and Christine (Goldsby) Wiley. Mr. Wiley graduated from Henry Bell High School the Class of 1964.' He moved to Flint, Mich. and was employed at General Motors Corporation and was a member of UAW Local #599 for 34 years. He served time in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. After returning home he earned his Journeyman Card as a construction welder and returned to General Motors Corporation. Mr. Wiley enjoyed photography, gourmet cooking, canning food to distribute to neighbors and friends. He was an avid cyclist, he was kind and generous to all people. Mr. Wiley united in holy matrimony with Charline Harvey in 1974, and to this union a daughter was born, Kenya Kenee. Mr. Wiley leaves to cherish his memories; a daughter, Kenya Kenee; grandchildren, Brittany and Jerome Jackson of Kansas City, Mo.; mother, Christine Wiley of Gurdon; brother, Jahure Wiley of Joliet, Ill.; sisters, Eloise Jones of Burton, Mich., and Regina Wallace Hopson of Gurdon; a host of other relatives and friends including special friends of the family, and former wife, Charline Harvey-Wiley of Kansas City, Mo. Mr. Wiley was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Earnest Wiley; two brothers, CalDon and Stanley Wiley. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff of Hurley Medical Center Dialysis Unit. Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 27, at Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home Chapel in Flint, Mich. with Pastor H.B. Dixson, officiating and Pastor Will O'Connell of Gurdon offering scripture. Interment was at River Rest Cemetery, Flint, Mich. Pallbearers were Wilbert Woods, Douglas Wright, Larry Pealer, Greg Jones, Wallace Hopson, and Eric Allen. Honorary Pallbearers were Samuel Patton, Cass Campbell, David Jones, and Jahure Wiley.
