Elder Virgil GulleyPublished Wednesday, December 11, 2002 in the Nevada County PicayuneElder Virgil Gulley, was born August 5, 1911 in Bluff City, and departed this life November 26, 2002, at 10 a.m. at his home. He was the son of the late Rev. Spencer and Addie Pearl Gulley, He joined Rocky Hill Church at an early age and was ordained in the ministry. He married his wife, Sis. Thelma Ree Johnson on April 25, 1931.To this union 13 children were born, six sons and seven daughters. He is preceded in death by his wife, three daughters, parents, stepmother, Sis. Annie Bell Gulley; and one sister. He leaves to cherish his memory his children; Zebedee Gulley, Delta (Emma) Gulley, Donnie (Bertha) Gulley, all of Chidester, Tony (Valerie) Gulley, Joseph Gulley of Prescott, Norman Gulley of Deerfield Beach, Vennie (Lee) Barker, Thelma (James) Scott of Camden, Ruthie Sims of Prescott, and Nell D. Gulley of Pompoko Beach; 92 grandchildren; 185 great-grandchildren; 53 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Louis Gulley of Chidester and Nathon Gulley of San Francisco, Calif.; one sister-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and a host of relatives and dear friends. Funeral services were at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2002, at Union Grove Baptist Church with burial in Union Grove Cemetery in Bluff City.
