Juanita Carrie'

Juanita Selwood Gasque Carrie', of Camden, died Friday, November 22, 2002.

Mrs. Carrie' began life July 18, 1917. She grew up in and around Marion, South Carolina. Mrs. Carrie' began a long and fruitful teaching career which had its roots in Georgetown and Marion, South Carolina. Mrs. Carrie' met and married Joe Carrie' in Georgetown where Joe worked for International Paper. Mr. and Mrs. Carrie' moved to Camden, with International Paper after WWII. Upon moving to Camden, Mrs. Carrie' began teaching fourth grade students at Fairview School. Imparting knowledge to fourth grade minds spanned a time frame of 29 years for Mrs. Carrie'. She retired from the teaching profession in 1980. She and Joe Carrie' had two daughters that also joined the teaching profession. Upon retirement Mrs. Carrie' continued to live in Camden where she enjoyed community life amongst friends and the grown students she had taught during her teaching profession.

Mrs. Carrie' was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Ulysses Carrie'; daughter, Paula Lee Carrie'; parents, Ellie R. Gasque and Ina Chavis Gasque; sisters, Etah Fields, and Barney Owens.

Mrs. Carrie' is survived by her daughter, Juanita Candace Carrie' of Prescott and her brother, Elllie R. Gasque of Marion, South Carolina.

Memorial service for Mrs. Carrie' were at First United Methodist Church in Camden, at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 2002. Local arrangements directed by Proctor Funeral Home in Camden.
