James House

Mr. James Lafayette "Fate" House, 80, of Powderly, Texas (formerly of Prescott) died Sunday, November 24, 2002 at Christus St. Joseph Hospital in South, Texas.

He was born December 21, 1921 in Nevada County to Joseph Washington and Tennie Paralee Raines House.

He was an air conditioning installation and serviceman for most of his working years. He retired from Weiler Air Conditioning in 1982. He had attended school in Boughton and Cecil communities in Nevada County.

He was a devoted member of Lamar Avenue Church of Christ. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing the fruits of the garden with his friends. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1939 and the Navy Seabees in the South Pacific during WWII.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Seal House who died in 1998 (he had married 7-14-40). Also, preceded by one son, James Theodore House in 1992, a brother George House in 97 and a sister Ruth Jones in 1999.

His survivors include: one daughter, Betsy and Harold (Butch) Mills of Paris, Texas; one sister, Chloe Orren of Prescott; one brother, Leonard House of Prescott; six grandchildren, Diane House Ori and Robert of Oakdale, CA, Lee Robert House and Sonja of Greenville, Tenn., Teddy House and Melinda of Paris, Texas, John House and Wendy of Sherwood, Ore., Kristie Mills Lee and Michael of Bogata, and Keith Mills of Paris, Texas; six great-grandchildren, Jared and Jacklyn Coleman of Oakdale, Calif., Jessica House and Riley of Greenville, Tenn., Cooper Scott House of Sherwood, Ore. and Sarah Beth House of Paris, Texas.

Funeral services were Tuesday, November 26, 2002, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott with Mr. John Cannon, Jr. officiating. Burial in DeAnn Cemetery. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
