Johnie Collins

Johnie Collins, 82, of Texarkana, died November 9, 2002 in a local hospital.

He lost his battle with lung cancer. He was a farmer and an U.S. Army veteran. He was born September 24, 1920, in Prescott. He attended Bethel Baptist Church.

He was the son of John and Ella Simpson Collins.

Survivors include: his wife Doris; two sons, Billy Collins and wife Pat, and Johnny Wayne Collins all of Prescott; one daughter, Betty Collins Spaulding and husband David of Texarkana; one step-son, Walter Wilburn of Texarkana; one step-daughter Barbaral Creel of Texarkana; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, S.J. Collins and wife, Joy of Dallas; and many more relatives and friends.

Johnie was dearly loved and will be forever missed by his family. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is with Jesus now where he will suffer no more.

Graveside services were Wednesday, November 13, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the DeAnn Cemetery in Prescott with Rev. Chad Thompson officiating.

Services under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home in Hope.
