Thomerson's broken into; but nothing gets stolenBY AUTUMN PENNINGTONPublished Wednesday, November 13, 2002 in the Gurdon Times Thomerson's Drug Store is the latest Gurdon business to be broken into. On Monday, November 4, two unidentified white males entered Thomerson's. The two men did not look familiar to the employees at the drug store. The men were approached and asked if they could be helped with something. The men answered no and continued to look around the store. Around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, someone drove a car around to the back of the store. The suspect(s) removed a door from the back of the building next to Thomerson's. After entering the building the suspect(s) reportedly felt their way down the wall until they found a place they thought they could break through. The suspect(s) then proceeded to knock a hole in the wall between the two buildings. Once the hole was large enough for someone to fit through, the alarm inside the drug store went off. The Gurdon Police officer on duty rushed to the scene, but the alarm had already frightened the burglar(s) away before anything was stolen out of the store. "It was raining really hard at the time of the break-in. That makes it hard for us to get tire tracks or anything of that nature," said City Marshal Don Childres. "We are still looking for any leads. It is believed that whoever did this is not from here since no one in the store recognized the two men who were apparently casing out the store earlier in the afternoon." Anyone having any information regarding this case you may call the Gurdon Police Department at (870) 353-2211. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
