William ShanklesPublished Wednesday, November 6, 2002 in the Gurdon TimesWilliam Shankles, 76, of Gurdon, died Wednesday, October 31, 2002. He was retired employee of Reynolds Metal Company, member of Whelen springs Baptist Church, and member of Steelworkers Union Local 5073. Survivors include, wife, Patsy Shankles of Gurdon; son, Russell and wife, Pam Shankles of McCaskill; daughter, Rhonda and husband, Jerry Gates, of Whelen Springs; three sisters, Edith Pierce of Whelen Springs , Frances Quinn and Sue Bell, both of Topeka, Kansas; three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, four step-daughters, Cathi Monteith of El Dorado, Carla Jester and Frankie Davidson both of Gurdon, and Cheryl Hastings of Prescott; seven step-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren. Shankles was preceded in death by his first wife, Bessie Marie (Graves) Shankles and two brothers, Cecil Lee Shankles and Jerry Shankles. Funeral services were conducted Friday, Nov. 1, in Horne Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Richwood Cemetery under the direction of Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.
