Evie D. McMullen-Darnell, 95, of Weslaco, Texas, formerly of Gurdon, died Wednesday, October 9, 2002.

Mrs. Darnell was born in Gurdon. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Andrew and Bessie Cates Stone.

She married John H. McMullen, Sr. in 1944, who preceded her in death in 1959. She married Clyde E. Darnell of Grand Saline, Texas in 1978 who preceded her in death in 1981.

She lived in Weslaco, Texas from 1948-1978, where she owned a citrus orchard and taught elementary school. She graduated from Pan American College n 1965. She lived in Hamilton, Texas from 1981. She was a United Methodist.

She is survived by two sons, Rev. John H. McMullen, Jr. of Austin, Texas and his wife, Fara; Andy J. McMullen of Hamilton, Texas and his wife, Julie; other survivors include four grandchildren, Stephanie Vaughn of Cedar Park, Texas, Michael McMullen of Austin, Texas, Andrew McMullen of Garland, Texas, and Aaron McMullen of Lubbock, Texas; two great-grandchildren; Noah Ander Vaughn and Mackenzie Erin Vaughn of Cedar Park, Texas, and a sister, Virginia Robertson of Sherman, Texas.

Graveside services were held for Mrs. Darnell Saturday, October 12, in Highland Memorial Park, Weslaco, Texas, by Weed, Corley, Fish Funeral Home of Austin.
