Edward Johnson

Mr. Edward Glen Johnson, 80, of Blevins (formerly of Dallas, Texas), died Wednesday, October 2, 2002 at Medical Park Hospital in Hope.

He was born on October 13, 1921, in Pike Co., to Charley Jesse and Nova Henderson Johnson.

He was a graduate of Delight High School, and an elder and member of Scyene Road Church of Christ in Dallas. He was a veteran and Ex-P.O.W. of World War II in the Army Air Corps. He was a Staff Sargent, was awarded the Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, P.O.W. Medal and others.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lafaye Glilleylen Johnson, by one step-son, Bill Thieme, and by two sisters, Peggy and Frances Johnson.

His survivors include: his wife, Helen Zumwalt Thiem Johnson of Blevins; one son, Randy Glen Johnson and Lynda M. of Little Rock; one step-daughter, Beverly McGinnis and James of Melborn, Florida; two grandchildren, Amanda Ann Johnson of Little Rock and Sara Kathleen Johnson of Plano, Tex; and two step-grandchildren, Alex and Kelsey McGinnis both of Melborn, Fla.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Sunday, October 6, 2002, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Hope with Rev. Coy Zumwalt and Rev. Earl Cumbie officiating. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday, October 7, 2002, at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park Cemetery, Mesquite, Texas with Mr. Arnold Hardin officiating. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Hope.
