Maxwell charged with manufacturing methBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, October 9, 2002 in the Nevada County Picayune A 38-year-old Prescott man has been charged with manufacturing a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine. According to court records, South Central Drug Task Force officers obtained a warrant to search the home of Dennis Maxwell after gathering information concerning the manufacture of narcotics. When officers served the warrant and searched the premises, they found a number of empty decongestant boxes, lye, HCL generator, plastic tubing, camp fuel and a red, dark powdery substance, along with other items commonly associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine. Maxwell was arrested, and, according to court records, waived his rights. He reportedly provided officers with a written statement admitting he was manufacturing methamphetamine, with no one else involved. Samples of the substance thought to be methamphetamine were taken and sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock. A hazardous disposal unit was called in to get rid of all other hazardous materiels. Manufacturing a controlled substance is a class Y felony.
