Oak GroveLula Q. KendrickPublished Wednesday, April 14, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune Men's day was held at New Bethel AME Church Sunday, April 11. Rev. Willie Toney preached the sermon. The guest church was New Bethel AME Church of Carthage. Rev. Toney's text was 'The Step of a Good Man.' He really spoke good and his choir really did wake the church up. George Kendrick was in the hospital last week. That was why I didn't have any news last week. Artis Gulley is in the hospital in Texarkana and is not doing well at all. Ollie Gulley Tidwell passed away in Gary, Ind., Saturday, April 10. Dr. Seth Aramia preached at Rev. Bishop's Church Sunday in Waldo. He always stopped by to see us. He is the president of Africa Christian Mission in West Africa. He is a wonderful speaker. The bridal shower for Sherry Young was held April 9 at New Bethel Church. Her wedding to Michael Gayton will be held Saturday, April 17, at 3:00 in the afternoon at New Bethel AME Church, Highway 200 in Rosston. She is the daughter of Gloria and Elmer Young.
