Meth lab busted by officers; one charged with manufactureBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, October 2, 2002 in the Nevada County Picayune Items and equipment used to manufacture methamphetamine was recently seized by the South Central Drug Task Force. This seizure also resulted in the arrest of Frankie Kirkham, 22, of Prescott, who was charged with manufacturing a controlled substance, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and possession of firearms by certain persons. According to court records, officers with the task force executed the warrant at Kirkham's home, where they found chemicals and other items associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine. They also found a white and tan powdery substance, consistent with the look of the narcotic in question. According to the records, officers found three loaded shotguns, one loaded rifle, then five other firearms in a bedroom near the bathroom. In the bathroom, officers discovered a quantity of what appeared to be the finished product. Other items found were an hcl generator, used syringes, two plastic bags, one containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, and the other with needles. Task force officers contacted the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to come down and dispose of the dangerous chemicals. Other evidence was taken to the Arkansas Crime Lab to be examined. According to the report, other suspects could be arrested in connection with this case, as Kirkham was the only one at home at the time of the arrest. Manufacture of a controlled substance is a class Y felony, punishable by 10-40 years or life in prison and a fine not to exceed $25,000. Simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms is also a class Y felony. Possession of firearms by a certain person (felon in possession of firearms) is a class D felony.
