Final Plans are being made for the 2001 Clark County Fair Pageant.

It will be held at the Peake Elementary Auditorium in Arkadelphia on September 7 at 4 p.m.

The Clark County Fair Pageant and Talent Committee's goals are to discover, develop and encourage the youth of Clark County. Young ladies age 13-15 years of age may compete in the Junior Miss division.

They will model street wear and evening gown. They will also be interviewed by the judges.

Fair Queen contestants must be 16-21 years of age. They will compete in street wear, swimsuit, evening gown, and interview.

Little Miss contestants ages 3-5 years of age will compete in pageant dress and on stage question.

Talent contestants must be 10-20 years of age and may choose to compete in vocal solo, dance solo, vocal group, dance group, instrumental solo, or variety (example: dance and sing or singing while accompanying oneself with an instrument).

Six talent acts will be chosen to compete at the State Fair Talent competition.

Businesses, clubs, organizations, and individuals are encouraged to sponsor a contestant. Sponsors may help purchase wardrobes for the pageant or pay entry fees.

Entry fees are $25 for each contestant or group. Deadlines for entry fees are August 16.

The Clark County Fair Queen Pageant is one of few in the state to award scholarships to the Fair Queen, 1st runner-up and 2nd runner-up.

The support of local businesses and the hard work of the Extension Homemakers has enabled our scholarship program to become a success.

Clark County Fair Queens and their courts have represented the County at Southwest District Fair, Arkansas State Fair, and other local pageants.

Applications may be picked up at the Clark County Extension office at 501 Clay Street in Arkadelphia. If you have any further questions please call (870) 246-5095.
