Freedom theme of 2002 Clark County Fair

"Let Freedom Ring" is the theme for this year's Clark County Fair.

Last year's fair was during the week of the September 11th attacks on the United States.

Since that time patriotism has abounded. The Clark County Fair Board choose the theme to show Clark County's support for America.

The fair will kick off on Tuesday, September 10 with the carnival opening at 6 p.m. This will also be armband night at the fair.

Advanced armbands can be purchased at First State Bank on Tuesday, September 3-10 until 3 p.m. for $7 or you may purchase them for a higher price at the fair. Armbands can be used on one night of your choice, either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday night of the fair.

Red Line and the Campbell Family Show will kick off entertainment in the Commercial Building starting at 7 p.m. The bands play a mixture of country and rock music such as ZZ Top, Lynerd Skynerd and classic country.

All livestock, poultry and rabbits must be registered by 7 p.m.

Pretty Baby contestants must register between 5-7 p.m.

Educational booths must be set up by 7 p.m.

A horse show will take place at 8 p.m. at the rodeo arena on Tuesday night.

Winners of the Clark County Fair Pageant and anyone else entering a float will be on parade at 5 p.m. on Wednesday starting on Main Street.

The swine, sheep and goats will be judged on Wednesday night starting at 6:30 p.m.

Beef and dairy judging will be held on Thursday night at 6 p.m.

There will be a rodeo at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday night of the fair.

A Pee-Wee livestock show will be held on Saturday night at 6 p.m. Anyone interested must register at the Clark County Extension office by noon on September 6. Pee-Wee's are youth between the ages of three and nine who are residents of Clark County.

Livestock will be released at 9 p.m. on Saturday, September 14.
