Band to perform ZZ Top

Gurdon Band Director Alan Wimberly and assistant band director Bruce Burson have begun working hard with this year's band.

Wimberly boasted about the band's 36 members.

"We are practicing hard and I am really excited about this group this year. I am also thankful to the Gurdon School Board for finding a way to send Mr. Burson back to us. Their efforts are greatly appreciated," said Wimberly.

Kelly Runyan is returning again this year as the band's drum major. Runyan is a senior this year and served as drum major last year.

Christie Stiffler is captain of the color guard and is backed by co-captain Rebecca Stephens.

The band's featured twirler is Amanda Branson who is returning for her second year.

Wimberly said, "We are anticipating another great year, maybe even better than last. Our music selection is that of ZZ Top. We are really enjoying learning the songs."
