American Pride is theme for this year's county fair

"Sixty-Six Years of American Pride," this is the theme of the 2002 Annual Nevada County Fair.

The fair, which is September 7-15, promises to be a week full of hometown fun and entertainment.

The fair kicks off Saturday, Sept. 7, with the Lil Britches Rodeo at 6 p.m. On Sunday there will be an afternoon of Gospel Singing at 2 o'clock.

Monday morning the Fair Queens will host the Chamber of Commerce Coffee at the Potlatch Building at 10 a.m. Also on Monday, from 3-6 p.m., items may be entered in the Arts, Crafts, Photography, Baked Goods, Quilts, Household Articles, Food Preservation, Fall Gardens, Field Crops, and Furniture.

This time also allows the entering of livestock, with the poultry and rabbit buildings open also to set up educational booths.

On Tuesday from 7:30-10 a.m., arts and crafts items may again be entered for competition. At 12 p.m. there will be an official judging of the flower show and exhibits. Also from 12-5 p.m. the livestock, cattle, swine, sheep and goats, can be entered into the fair.

At 6 p.m. downtown Prescott will host the annual fair parade. This will also mark the opening of the exhibits building and the Carnival Midway. At 7 o'clock the fair will present the Old Timers Rodeo Event and at 7:30 the Talent Show begins.

On Wednesday the Exhibit Buildings and Carnival Midway will open at 3 p.m. and the livestock show will be at 5:30. Wednesday also holds a 6 p.m. slot for the parade if there was wet weather on Tuesday.

The Carnival Midway opens at 3 p.m. on Thursday and the Exhibits Buildings open at 5 p.m.

At 5:30 p.m. the Livestock Premium Sale will begin and at 6 o'clock the Fair Pageant begins. This will include the Baby Miss, Tiny Miss, Little Miss, and the Petite Miss.

On Friday afternoon the Carnival Midway again opens at 3 p.m. and the exhibits building opens at 5.

At 10 a.m. Saturday the carnival midway opens, this also marks the time for the horse show.

The exhibit buildings open once again at 5 p.m. and The Fair Queen Pageant for the Young miss, Junior miss, Teen miss, and Fair queen, will begin at 6 o'clock.

At 7 p.m. the rodeo will start and at 9 o'clock the livestock is released.

All items may be picked up on Sunday, marking the end of the fair.
