A bid to roof Prescott Elementary School was accepted in a special meeting of the Prescott School Board Thursday, April 8.

Prescott Superintendent Ron Wright informed the panel three bids had been received for the project, with one company submitting two bids in one packet.

Hostetler Roofing of Ozan turned in two bids with one packet, with one bid having a 15- year warranty on the roof and the other a 12-year warranty.

The other bids were from Kropf Roofing, also of Ozan, and Heartland Roofing.

On the Hostetler bids, Wright said, the primary difference is the amount of material to be used along with the extra three years on warranty.

He told the board all three firms were reputable and have done work on schools in the area.

The board agreed to go with the Hostetler bid with the 15-year warranty at a price of $79,871.

Wright said the company will not work during school hours and could start the job in May. Until school is out, workers will be on hand after school hours and weekends to do the roofing.

This will include removing the gravel, cleaning the roof and installing new flashing. The end result will be a new encapsulated roof for PES.

Wright said the materials also have a warranty as does the contractor.

In other business, the board accepted the resignation of Luckee Andrews, effective Friday, April 16, as secretary at Prescott Middle School.

Andrews has been with the district for 24 years and is leaving because her husband is being transferred out of state.
