It is Mission Gurdon Project time again. This year's project is bigger and even better than last year.

Beech Street Baptist Church decided last year to have a week to do special projects in the community.

Each year the church participated in mission projects that sent them to Glorietta, New Mexico and several places in Texas.

The church enjoyed the missions and the youth learned how well off they were and how good they felt by helping others.

During the trips the groups would help paint low-income houses and educate others on the plan of salvation.

This year the Sycamore Baptist Church Youth joined in the mission project.

This past week these youths have painted, mowed and raked yards, presented puppet shows, sang at the senior adult center, delivered meal on wheels to the elderly and held Bible school at the Gurdon housing authority.

The young people have worked hard and enjoyed their mission work.

The temperatures have been soaring around the 90's plus the humidity. Hot and tired this gang has been up to eat breakfast at the church each morning at 8. They work until 11:30. They take a lunch break back at the church were the meal has been prepared by members who volunteer their time.

Plans for next year's mission Gurdon are already underway.
