They came, did nothing and adjourned.

This, in essence, was what happened at the Rosston City Council meeting Monday, July 1.

The agenda itself was simple, with the old business welcoming J.D. Luck back from having back surgery, and the new business a statement everything is going well.

Rosston Mayor Lewis Jackson said the title still hasn't been found to the old firetruck, but he hasn't been in a hurry as the truck hasn't been stripped of equipment as yet.

Once the equipment has been removed Jackson will again take the vehicle identification number (VIN) to the revenue department and apply for lost title.

He said the city also plans to purchase a load of asphalt to patch holes in the street behind the post office.

Otherwise, discussion centered around the city's balance sheet, with the question raised why the accounts payable and total accounts payable on the liability end were the same, $4,524.21.

Jackson and City Secretary Brenda Jenson said all they do is plug the checks written into the computer and the city's accounting program does everything else.

Jackson said the council members could ask Prescott accountant Carl Dalrymple about what the figures mean.
