Harld Charles

Mr. Harold D. Charles, 65, from Rockford, Il. (formerly of Prescott), died Monday, June 17, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital, in Madison, Wisc.

He was born May 13, 1937, in Prescott to Chester and Cordia Muldrow Charles.

He retired at age 55 from the U.S. Postal Service with 36 years. He was manager of three local mailing stations in Rockford. He was an avid fisherman, baseball fan, and dedicated to his family, friends, and favorite charities. He could always be counted on for a donation or to lend a hand whenever needed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Charles who died in 1985.

His survivors include: his mother, Cordia Charles of Prescott; his sister, Ozie Jones of Prescott; one brother, Vernon Charles of Rockford, Ill.; special friend, Ethel Purifoy of Rockford, Il.; three uncles, Rufus Muldrow of Prescott, Earnest Charles and Dexter Charles of Seattle, Washington; six aunts, Jessie Sandifer and Lula Franklin of Prescott, Bertha Zachery and Irene Brown of Rockford, Ill., Bessie Maloney of Witchita, Kan., and Pauline Banks of Seattle, Wash., one nephew, Keith of Kentucky; six nieces, Nicole, Antranicque, Kimberly, Mara, LaShawn, and Diamondnicque. and a host of special cousins and friends.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m., Saturday, June 22, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott, with Rev. Ivory Curry officiating.

Burial followed in DeAnn Cemetery in Prescott.

Family received friends Friday, June 21, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
