Without enough members to make decisions, Mayor Dale Booker simply made announcements during the monthly Emmet City Council meeting.

According to Booker, the water system is finally up and running. There have been several problems with the controls on the well that was hit by lighting. The controls are electronic and, therefor, took longer to repair.

City secretary, Frank Faulkner, gave the water systems annual report. The Consumer Confidence Report will be mailed to all customers on the water system. The report lists locations of the well and levels of contaminations in the water.

According to Faulkner, Emmet has no problems in its water system. Along with the reports a letter will also be sent to customers who have leaks in sewage pipes. The leaks are not those that are coming out on the ground, the leaks are letting rain water get into the pipes. The extra water may be a possible reason for the sewage pumps going out.

Customers with leaks will be encouraged to fix the leaks on their own, or let the city fix it and be billed.

Also a smoke test will be administered to find all the leaks. If there is a crack in the pipes smoke will seep through. This test will also be helpful to customers who may have leaks in their homes.

A sewage gas leak can be harmful to citizens and the smoke test would help them find a problem.

The walking trail will soon be started using the extra piled up dirt around town. Booker said although a grant was unsuccessful for the trail, the city would pay for the trail one step at a time.

Booker said more money needs to be set aside for the street department. Several culverts are being replaced in town and last years budget did not allow for this extra expense.

Booker said improvements on drainage have been very helpful. There are only two spots left where drainage is still a problem.
