Willie Flemons

Deacon Willie Flemons was born on April 12, 1919, to the parents of Steve and Florence Flemons in Laneburg. He was the seventh of fifteen children. His father, mother, and siblings preceded him in death.

Deacon Flemons died on June 11, to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a faithful member of Mt. Ephesus Baptist Church since his youth and served on the deacon board for 50-plus years. He was a good Christian man which was attributive to his being a good neighbor and friend.

He married Orene Williams on September 7, 1940. To this blessed union was born eight children: two daughters and six sons, one son, Robert D. preceded him in death. He worked diligently at being a loving husband and father and to provide for his family, both physically and spiritually.

Willie Flemons leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Orene; daughters, Bobbie (Uvern) Clay of St. Louis, Mo., and Fannie McCullough of Chicago, Ill.; sons Lee Willis Flemons of Denver, Colo., Sylvester Flemons of Tulsa, Okla., Rickey Flemons of Oakland, Calif., Calvin and Timothy Flemons of Prescott; three sisters-in-laws, Lillie M. Mitchell, Vira L. Flemons, and Mattie L. Charles; 35 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
