Leonard Goza

Leonard Paul Goza, 84, of Arkadelphia, died Sunday, June 9, 2002.

Mr. Goza was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Arkadelphia. He was a member of the Shriners, Masons, and Hoo Hoo.

Mr. Goza was retired from the U.S. Navy. During his Naval career, he rose to the rank of chief petty officer, served on the USS Lexington and USS Minneapolis. During World War II, he was stationed in Guam. In retirement, he was an avid bird hunter and worked long hours on his lawn.

Survivors include his wife, Frankie Goza of Arkadelphia; two sons, John and Cary Goza of Hot Springs, and David and Stacy Goza of Bismarck; three daughters, Clyde and Dixie Pennington of Ashdown, Terry and Vicki Hughes, and Larry and Shellie Stroud, both of Gurdon; one brother, Wayne and Pauline Goza of Anderson, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Goza.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 13, at the First United Methodist Church of Gurdon, with Rev. Daniel Kirkpartrick officiating.

Burial was held in Rose Hedge Cemetery by Horne Funeral Home, Gurdon.
