Emmet School Board met June 3.

Topics of the night included end of the year statistics, hiring new teachers and an apparently confused PTO.

The Parent Teacher Organization met with the school board to discuss a recent switch of the concessions stand. In past years the PTO has been responsible for running and keeping the funds of the concessions stand.

However, a booster club has been formed and now the boosters plan to use the funds.

The PTO was unaware of the switch. The booster club plans to use the monies from the stand to benefit athletics and high school organizations.

This, according to PTO members, will leave no funds available for the elementary school or peewee athletics. In the past the PTO has used funds to buy new lockers, a sound system, and picnic tables.

School board President Steve Otwell requested the PTO meet and decide if they are all wanting to do the stand, "I do not feel comfortable being the one who has to decide." he said.

The PTO planned a meeting and the decision of who works the concessions stand will be discussed at the July school board meeting.

The principals and superintendent gave end of the year reports. They discussed the enrollment in each school and the recent awards assembly.

The board then went into executive session. During executive session the board decided to hire Shane Plyler as the new Agriculture teacher. It also accepted the resignation of second grade teacher Stacy Carol and replaced her with Kathleen Wicker, formerly a teacher for the reduced class size program.
