Teachers Attend Conference

Published Wednesday, April 14, 1999 in the Gurdon Times

Pat Talley, fourth grade teacher, and Melissa Franklin, counselor, attended the Arkansas State Career Education and Guidance Conference March 1 and 2 at the Best Western Inn of the Ozarks in Eureka Springs.

This year's theme was 'Career Education: Checking Out Careers in Arkansas.'

Sixteen career education grant project directors shared their grant projects which were funded by the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) for the 1998-99 school year. Other presentations were made addressing the theme of the conference.

The conference and the grant program is under the direction of J.B. Robertson, field services guidance specialist with the ADE.

Gurdon Primary School is working on 'Visions of the Future.' Field trips, guest speakers, classroom guidance activities, videos and other materials are being used to help students learn about careers.
