R.C. Gavin

R.C. Gavin, 85, of Pansy died Saturday, April 27, at J.R.M.C. in Pine Bluff.

Born September 11, 1916, in Cleveland County, a son of the late Abb Gavin and Laura Morgan Gavin.

He was a retired farmer, a member of Prosperity United Methodist Church in Pansy, a member of Millcreek Lodge #178 F. and A.M., member of Order of Eastern Star, a World War II Army veteran and the widower of Marguerite Coats Gavin who died June 15, 1998. They were united in marriage August 21, 1937.

Also preceding him in death is a son Ralph Gavin, five brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include one son, Don Gavin of Woodlawn; one daughter, Betty Rasgdale of Malvern; six grandchildren, including Ricky and Teresa Ragsdale of Stamps, and 11 great-grandchildren, including RC Ragdsale, his namesake.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, April 29, at Prosperity United Methodist Church in Pansy with Rev. George O'Dell officiating. Burial was in Pansy Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home of Warren.

Active pallbearers were Steve Anderson, Darian McGee, John Jackson, Vick Gavin, Ray Gavin, and Mack Gavin.

Honorary pallbearers are Joe Mercer, Sam Mercer, Kelly Gavin, Charles Gavin, Jerry Gavin, Steve Gavin, Robert Donald Curry, Larry Johnson, Bill Gavin, Aubert Davis, Dr. Kerry Pennington and Roger Harris.
