Katie SwineaPublished Wednesday, May 1, 2002 in the Gurdon TimesKatie Swinea, 16, died April 19, 2002. She was born August 8, 1985, in Conway. She was a student in the 10th grade at Oakridge Central High School and was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by; her parents: Jimmy Ray and Judy Kay Powers Swinea of Ravenden Springs; two brothers; Joshua Swinea (ASU), and Matthew Swinea of Ravenden Springs, Ark., her grandparents; Joyce Swinea of Conway, and Leland and Edith Powers of Hope, aunts and uncles: Billy and Nancy Swinea of Vilonia, Shelia Powers Halsell of Hope, Leila and Jim Pitts of Greenwood, David "Bubby" and Gail Powers of Hope, and Thomas "Tee" Powers of Hope, and numerous cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather; Vernon Ray Swinea. Funeral service were Tuesday, April 23, at 2 p.m., at Eastside Baptist Church, Conway, with the Revs. Jim Tollison and Rev. Scotty Karber officiating. Pallbearers were: Ray Smith, Phillip Pinto, Randy Coldwell, Frank Ciamaricone, Brandon Weaver, James Horton.
