Prescott and Nevada County are more wired than ever electronically speaking.

According to Jon Chadwell, executive director of the Prescott-Nevada County Economic Development Council (EDO), a new community website went online Thursday, April 4.

"There are three ways to access the site," Chadwell said. One is by using the address www.pnpartnership.org, the second is www.prescottar.com, and the third is www.nevadacountyar.com.

The sites also include information about the EDO and the Prescott-Nevada Count Chamber of Commerce, he said, along with having links to the school, information on weather and maps of the area.

There are links to the Depot Museum on the site, along with information for tourists.

The site was assembled by the Development of Information Network of Arkansas (DINA), of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). DINA, Chadwell said, works for communities at a nominal fee. Most of the organization's funding is from grants.

And, a grant was used to pay for the new community website, he said. The grant was approved by GTE before the company sold out and left the region.

There are three domain names, Chadwell said, so when the Chamber or EDO wants to do ads, they can from the pnpartnership.org site.

The city can add information to its location from the prescottar.com location, while the county can do the same at its nevadacoutnyar.com site.

Additionally, he said, with three different domain names, the web addresses should stick in people's minds better when they want to access them. The sites, he added, will be constantly updated as information changes.

Getting the community website up and running took about a year, Chadwell said. This is because the data being sent to UALR changed and had to be updated.

The data was gathered and typed by the Partnership. The information was saved to a Zip disc and mailed to DINA, where it was downloaded onto the site. About 300 pages of information was mailed to DINA, he said.

Chadwell said the sites also include a list of Chamber members and businesses, EDO contributors, a section on media in the region, as well as a site for utilities. It also has information about nearby universities with phone numbers and links.

It also includes county officials, as well as mayors and council members for all communities in Nevada County, along with information about each town in the county.

And, with all this, he said, it also will allow people to send information through the links.
