Fern Houston

Fern Cantley Houston, 87, of Hope, died March 31, 2002.

She was born July 26, 1914, in Prescott.

She was a retired furniture business partner. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hope, PTA member, and enjoyed gardening. She was born to Pete and Gertrude Smith Cantley.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard A. Houston and one son, Bill Houston.

Survivors include: one son, Howard A. Houston, Jr. of Cary N.C.; two daughters, Ann Houston Ruppel of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Sydney Sue Houston Bruner of Hope; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several great- great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday, April 2, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Herndon Funeral Home. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Earl Cumbie, officiating under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home.

Visitation was April 1, 2002, from 6-8 p.m. at Herndon Funeral Home.

Services were under the direction of Herndon Funeral Home in Hope.
