Carolina SimmonsPublished Wednesday, April 3, 2002 in the Gurdon TimesCarolina Parker Simmons of Pontiac, Mich., died Thursday, March 21, 2002, at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital, Pontiac, Mich. She was wife of the late Roy Parker and the later Earnest Simmons. Retired from the Gurdon Hotel, Simmons was a pastry cook. Survivors include her three daughters, Hazel Dandridge of Rockford, Ill., Maggie Pervis-Cage and Elsie Avery-Burton, both of Pontiac, Mich.; 30 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday, March 30, at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in Gurdon with Pastor Johnny Harris and Pastor John Robertson bringing the eulogy. Pastor Robertson is Simmons's grandson.
