W.L. WaitePublished Wednesday, March 20, 2002 in the Gurdon TimesW.L. Waite, 81, of Arkadelphia, died Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at the Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. Waite was born May 28, 1920, in Scott Co., the son of the late Jesse Alonzo and Mary Jane Duncan White. He owned and operated Arkadelphia Auto Sales for more than 50 years and also, Waite Furniture Store. He was a member of the Pullen Hunting Club since 1960 and the Unity Baptist Church. He helped in the founding of Ouachita Marine and Watson Furniture. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alta Lee Loy Waite and two brothers. Survivors include one son, Billy Waite of Arkadelphia; two sisters, Eileen Watson of Arkadelphia and Lucille McMahan of Friendship; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 14, in the Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel with Rev. Alvin Clark officiating. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Unity Baptist Church. Nephews served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were T.V. Sharp, Billy Lee and members of the Pullen Hunting Club.
