Grady Jester, Sr.Published Wednesday, March 20, 2002 in the Gurdon TimesGrady Lewis Jester, Sr., 80, of Texarkana, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at his home. Jester was born on October 31, 1921, in Glenwood, and lived in Texarkana for many years. He was retired from the U.S. Army and from the U.S. Postal Service, a member of the American Legion and the veterans of Foreign Wars and 25-year veteran of the Vietnam War, where he received the Bronze Star. Survivors include his wife, Alice Jester of Texarkana; two sons and daughters-in-law, Grady and Becky Jester, Jr. of Gurdon, and Carroll and Nancy Jester of Burlington, Wash.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nettie and Milton Renfro and Martha and Carl Long of Texarkana; two sisters, Ola Cothren of Bradley, and Lola Freeman of Arkadelphia; one sister in-law, Sue Jester of Bradley; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held Monday, March 11, in East Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Lavon Picker officiating. Burial was under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home.
