Published Wednesday, April 21, 1999 in the Gurdon Times

The 1999 Lady Tiger Basketball Camp for girl athletes in the seventh through 12th grades will be held June 28-July 1 on the campus of Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia.

The coaching staff will consist of top high school coaches from Arkansas and neighboring states.

Head Lady Tiger coach Garry Crowder will serve as camp director and Lady Tiger assistant coach Joveta Arnold will serve as assistant camp director.

"Each camper will be put on a camp team based on age and ability so every camper can reach her utmost potential," said Crowder.

"The format will insure learning in a fun and relaxed atmosphere, with some outstanding instruction," he said.

Camp teams will play two to three games daily in the air-conditioned Roy and Christine Sturgis Physical Education Center.

Individual instruction will be provided at each position during morning and afternoon sessions. A normal day will begin at 8:30 a.m. and conclude with games ending at 9:00 p.m. with a two-hour lunch break at 11:30 a.m.

Each camper will receive a purple and gold Lady Tiger basketball camp t-shirt, visits with past and present Lady Tigers, individual awards, team awards, awards for contest winners and individual report cards.

Fees are $180 for overnight campers and $100 for commuters. The registration fee of $80 is due no later than June 7. Because of the growing interest in the camp only the first 225 applicants will be accepted.

For further information on the camp, persons should contact coach Garry Crowder, Lady Tiger Basketball Camp, Ouachita Baptist University, P.O. Box 3691, Arkadelphia, AR 71998- 0001 or call (870) 245-5294.
