Franes ProthroPublished Wednesday, March 13, 2002 in the Gurdon TimesFrances Elizabeth Prothro, 77, of DeWitt, died Thursday, March 7, 2002. Born January 10, 1925, she was the sixth of seven children born to A.L. and Effie Brumbelow of Camden. She was married August 12, 1942 to John L. Prothro, Sr., and they were together for 55 years. Prothro was active for many years in the United Methodist Parsonettes, United Methodist Women, and was a local volunteer in the American Heart Association. She is survived by one brother, James Brumbelow of Camden; three children, John L. Prothro, Jr. of DeWitt, Walter L. Prothro (Karen) of Round Rock, Texas, and Elizabeth Tate of Pell City, Ala.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services were held at Essex Chapel Sunday, March 10, with burial at the DeWitt Cemetery under the direction of Essex Funeral Home, DeWitt.
