Take outs are available. Tickets may be purchased from any member of UMW. Make your plans now to attend this event. The Okolona Cemetery Association will meet at the cemetery April 25 at 3:00 p.m. Everyone with an interest in the cemetery is urged to attend. Beirne Volunteer Fire Department will be having an old-fashioned hamburger cook-out on Saturday, April 24. Round-up time is noon. The meal is $3.50, which includes all the fixings, including chips, drink and dessert. Dancing will begin at the fire department at 7:00 p.m. Admission to the dance is $2 per person. All proceeds benefit Beirne Volunteer Fire Department. Gurdon Rotary Club and the Gurdon Band Boosters annual auction and hamburger lunch will be held May 1 at Gurdon City Park. Auction begins at 11:00 a.m. Come hungry. You can get a delicious hamburger with all trimmings, chips and cold drink for $3. Proceeds are being used for band camp scholarships. Whelen Springs Baptist Church will be having a homecoming, the first in many years, on May 23. Potluck lunch will be served at noon. Everyone welcome. A revival is in progress at Muldrew Chapel C.M.E. Church, corner of Fourth and Jones in Gurdon, through April 23 at 7:30 nightly. Evangelist is John Robertson of Pontiac, Mich. Everyone is invited to attend. Spring cleaning at Rose Hill Cemetery, Sycamore Community, will be April 24 starting at 8:00 a.m. In the event of rain it will be May 1. Call a friend or relative to let them know. Lots of help is needed. A picnic lunch and drink will be served after the cleaning. Bethlehem Baptist Church, 37 Coon Road in Gurdon, will be holding revival services April23 and 24 at 7:00 p.m and April 25 at 11:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. A different evangelist will be at each service. Call 353-4018 or 353-2293 for information. There will be a work day at Center Ridge Cemetery Saturday, April 24, beginning at 8:00 a.m. Bring tools and lunch. Head Start parents will be holding a carwash at Dillard's Shell Stop on April 24 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. A $5 donation will get your car washed, interior vacuumed, windows cleaned and tires cleaned. All proceeds benefit the Gurdon Head Start program. Gurdon Masonic Lodge 187 meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. All members are urged to attend. Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon. For more information, phone 353-4698.
