Filing fees and dates have been set by the Nevada County Democratic Committee for the primary election slated for May 21.

The filing period will begin March 19 at noon and will close at noon on April 2, according to information from the Democratic Committee. The fees and dates were approved by the Democratic Central Committee on Jan. 24.

Many counties around the state have redrawn districts following the release of information from the 2000 Census and Prescott and Nevada County are no exceptions.

The biggest changes of the wards for the election of the city's aldermen are found on the north east and central parts of the city, according to a map provided by the Democratic Committee.

One of the city's wards was previously comprised of a section of the city between highways 19 and 67, and north of the intersection of Main Street and Highway 67. That ward has been expanded to include some of the downtown area and a section of town east of Highway 67.

That change has lessened the areas included in two other wards.

It is basically the same area of the city that has changed with regard to the Justice of the Peace Districts. The previous District 3 included a section of the city between highways 19 and 67 and north of the intersection of Highway 67 and Main Street. That area has been split off from JP District 3 and is now included in JP District 2.

The filing fees are basically the same as for previous elections. Filling fees for the various offices are as follows:

* Mayor of Prescott  $750

* Nevada County Judge  $750

* County Sheriff  $750

* County Clerk  $600

* Circuit Clerk  $600

* County Tax Assessor  $600

* County Treasurer  $600

* Justice Peace  $75

* Prescott Alderman  $75

* Prescott Recorder  $75

* County Coroner  $75

There is no fee for filing for the constable positions.
