John Nichols

John A. Nichols, 84, of Falcon, died Monday, February 18, 2002, at his home.

He was born August 5, 1917, in Rye, to Burdett and Ida Hayes Nichols.

He was a retired cook and farmer. He had cooked for the Missouri Pacific Hospital, the Monticello College and Central Baptist College. He was a cook for the Civilian Conservation Corp. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his wife Etta Mae Neal Nichols, and by one grandson, Billy Wayne Nichols.

His survivors include: two sons, James R. Nichols of Lufkin, Texas and Wayne Nichols of Alexander; three daughters, Sue Uptigrove of Alexander, Joyce Auld of Hope, and Norma Wilson of Mabelvale; two brothers, Albert Nichols of Warren, and Robert Nichols of Fordyce; one sister, Marie Rice of Warren; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Thursday, February 21, 2002, at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Hope, with Rev. David Hampton and Rev. Bob Mayfield officiating. Burial followed in Falcon Cemetery in Falcon. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Hope.

Family received friends Wednesday, February 20, 2002, from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
