NASHVILLE 43

MENA 34

At the start of the tourney, it was thought the top two seeds would play one another, with the three and four seeds meeting as well.

This is the way it worked out, only the number one and two seeds played for third place. It began with Nashville beating Mena 43-34 in the quarter finals.

The Scrapperettes managed a 9-6 lead at the end of one, but trailed 18-16 at halftime, as it appeared the Lady Cats may pull the game out.

By the end of three Mena's lead had been extended to 28-23, with the Scrapperettes coming back in the fourth, scoring 20 points to steal the win.

Nashville hit eight of 16 free throws, with Mena a woeful three of 15.

Chanel Suggins led Nashville with 14. Cassandra Corey and Kandi Parris scored 10 each.

Rachelle Bonner led the Lady Cats with 20.

ASHDOWN 49

DOUBLE OVERTIME

In what could be called the best game of the tourney, the Lady Cobras proved their mettle with a 53-49 double overtime win against Ashdown.

The Lady Cobras opened strong, taking an 11-3 lead at the end of one, and holding an 18-12 advantage at the half.

Fountain Lake played smart to make up for its lack of size during the first half.

The Lady Cobras maintained their lead at the end of three, with the score 32-27. Ashdown's size came into play during the fourth quarter as the Lady Panthers knotted the game at 42-42 at the end of regulation.

Both teams scored two in the first overtime. Fountain Lake hit two free throws, while Ashdown nailed one bucket.

With the score tied at 44-44, a second overtime was required, with the Lady Cobras taking control and outscoring Ashdown 9-5.

It came down to free throws and the Lady Cobras hitting them when needed.

The Lady Cobras hit 19-25 from the line, with Ashdown netting 14-22. The difference was Stephanie White being 12-12 at the line during the game, and leading all scorers with 20.

King added 10 for Fountain Lake.

Talesha Cook led Ashdown with 16. Latonya Delaney had 15, with Kalah Daniels scoring 12.
