PRESCOTT 66

BISMARCK 54

In the semifinal game, the Wolves handled Bismarck 66-54.

Prescott took control of the game early and never looked back with the Wolves playing their game.

At the end of one, the Wolves were up 14-6, and led 29-22 at the half, as Bismarck fought back.

The fight proved to be futile, as the Wolves all but put the game away in the third quarter, which ended with the score 47-29.

Prescott's defense practically shut the Lion offense down and out. In fact, the Wolves had the Lions on the ropes more than once, but failed to administer the knockout punch.

By the end of three, though, it was academic as Bismarck's players showed signs of fatigue.

Prescott's free throw shooting left much to be desired as the Wolves hit 15-33, while Bismarck was 13-17 at the line.

Fulks and Stueart led Prescott in the win with 19 each. Jon Gulley and Tidwell scored 10 apiece.

R. Thornton paced Bismarck with 21.

MENA 58

DE QUEEN 52

In the other boys semifinal game, the Bearcats had their hands full with De Queen, but escaped with a 58-52 win.

The Cats, though, led at the end off all four quarters, starting with a 16-15 lead at the end of one.

The teams were similar in size and style, though the Cats managed to put more through the hole.

Halftime arrived with Mena leading 28-21.

By the end of the third, the Cats were up 40-23`.

Mena hit six of 10 free throws, while De Queen was nine of 11 at the line.

Jared White led with 23 for Mena. Dan Pate added 13, while Chris Roberts scored 10.

Matt Hall was the game's leading scorer with 26 for the Leopards. James Hammond added 12, with Quincy Scott scoring 10.

OVERTIME

The Lady Cobras pulled off the upset of the tourney with a 42-40 overtime win against De Queen.

The Lady Leopards had size on Fountain Lake, and used it effectively inside all night.

However, the Lady Cobras had more heart and played on it when all else failed.

The Lady Cobras played the early part of the game like a water bug trying to avoid a bass, as they flitted all over the court so they wouldn't be hammered.

By the end of one De Queen led 7-6. Fountain Lake rallied in the second quarter to take a 17-16 lead.

The Lady Cobras extended their lead to 29-25 by the end of three, by playing smart basketball.

However, the Lady Leopards rallied and tied the game at 36-36 at the end of regulation.

During the fourth quarter the Lady Cobras suffered turnover problems, with substitutes made often to keep fresh legs in the game.

Overtime was nothing new to the Lady Cobras in the tourney, as they played two against Ashdown to get to the semifinals.

The extra four minutes were equally played, as neither squad could dominate the other.

As time was running down and the score was tied at 40-40, it appeared a second overtime would be needed. But, Stephanie White drove the lane and nailed an eight-footer at the buzzer to give Fountain Lake the win.

The Lady Leopards hit 12-16 free throws, while Fountain Lake netted five of six at the line.

White led the Lady Cobras with 13 in the game.

Dooley paced De Queen with 13, with Bowers adding 12.
