Stueart led Prescott with 15, while Fulks contributed 10.

GIRLS' CHAMPIONSHIP

FOUNTAIN LAKE 30

NASHVILLE 28

The senior girl's district championship game proved to be a war, with the Lady Cobras posting a 30-28 win over the Scrapperettes.

Nashville had the taller team, while Fountain Lake had to rely on speed and quickness.

From the outset, the game turned into a chess match, with the coaches working to out think the other, while the players moved around the court, looking for an opening and chance to score.

The first quarter ended with the teams deadlocked at 9-9.

The Lady Cobras scored the first three points of the second period, only to have Nashville battle back and tie the game with 2:32 left in the half.

While both teams raced up and down the court, the final scoring of the half came from the line. Nashville managed one free throw, while Fountain Lake connected on two to lead 14-13 when the buzzer sounded.

Nothing changed early in the third, though the Lady Cobras did manage to take the lead and outscore Nashville 9-5 in the frame.

Fountain Lake's players worked smarter to overcome the size deficit, passing the ball around the perimeter, firing it inside and taking the shot when it opened.

Nashville, though, was far from sloppy and brutish. The Scrapperettes also worked the ball, but did attempt to use their height advantage and force it inside.

The third ended with the Lady Cobras up 23-18.

Defense ruled the final period, as neither team scored in the first five minutes of the fourth.

The Scrapperettes missed six straight shots at one point, then followed this by missing another four in-a-row later on.

Fountain Lake did no better, with the exception being the Lady Cobras didn't get many shots off.

With 3:00 left, the Lady Cobras lost their point guard, Kristen King, as she fouled out.

From there, it boiled down to which team could shoot free throws better. Neither team shot very well from the charity stripe, as Nashville hit 14 of 24, and Fountain Lake was six of 13.

All six of Fountain Lake's free throws were made by one player, sophomore Stephanie White, who was 18-18 at the line during the tournament.

Tessa White led Nashville with eight points.

King scored seven to lead Fountain Lake, while White had six, all free throws.

CONSOLATION GAMES

SENIOR BOYS

DE QUEEN 56

BISMARCK 46

This was a game neither team appeared to really care much about, as the players were lethargic on the court.

When all was said and done, though, the game lasted about 30 minutes longer than scheduled because of fourth quarter fouls. Still, De Queen beat Bismarck 56-46.

At the end of one the Leopards held a 9-8 lead, but trailed 26-24 at the half.

De Queen regained the lead in the third, 38-33 and held on to win.

The Lions were 17-24 from the line, while the Leopards hit 21-33 free throws.

James Hammonds led De Queen with 16, with Terry Williams and Brooks Miller scoring 10 each.

Jamie Weatherford paced Bismarck with 15. Ryan Thornton scored 14 and Tyler Thornton added 11.

SENIOR GIRLS

BISMARCK 53

DE QUEEN 44

The one and two seed teams did play each other as expected, only not in the finals.

The Lady Lions dumped De Queen 53-44 to finish third in the tourney.

Bismarck took the lead early and held it throughout the game, as, again, both teams were less than enthusiastic.
