Gurdon Chamber banquet tonightBY AUTUMN PENNINGTONPublished Wednesday, February 20, 2002 in the Gurdon Times The Gurdon Chamber of Commerce is excited to have Arkansas' First Lady, Janet Huckabee, as guest speaker at the annual Chamber of Commerce banquet tonight. The banquet is open to everyone and tickets are still available. You may purchase them at First State Bank of Gurdon, US Bank in Gurdon, The Gurdon Chamber of Commerce and the Arkadelphia Chamber of Commerce. Gurdon is fortunate to have such a distinguished guest at the banquet and plans for a large crowd to attend. At tonight's banquet, Gurdon Citizen of the Year will be recognized as well as Teacher of the Year. Winnie Clark will also be on hand for the crowd's entertainment. At the end of the banquet, President Phil Robken will turn over his position to this year's new Chamber President, Laurie Pilgreen. Pilgreen has worked hard for the Chamber this past year and should serve them well. She and her husband, Bobby, own Pilgreen Electric here in Gurdon. This year's new vice-president is Gurdon Mayor Clayton Franklin. Franklin has been involved with Gurdon for many years and will serve his duty well. Linda Bittle will take over as Secretary/Treasurer. Bittle is Vice-president of First State Bank and has served as Chamber president in the past.
