Rosston audit "looks good"BY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, February 13, 2002 in the Nevada County Picayune Rosston's audit "looked good", according to Mayor Lewis Jackson. Jackson, at the regular monthly meeting of the Rosston City Council Monday, Feb. 4, said the auditors took a week to get the audit done for the city's water department. The audit, done by Przybysz and Associates of Fort Smith, showed the city to be in compliance under state law. The company stated it found no matters of the city's reporting and operation to concerned about. Jackson told the council the Nevada School District is interested in buying the city's old generator, and proposed a bid of $500 for it. He said the generator is doing the city no good because he can find no one to repair it, whereas the school as access to others who may be able to fix it. The city originally paid $3,800 for the generator, but it hasn't worked properly in years. The council agreed to sell it to the school for $500. An open house will be held sometime this month for the new fire station in Rosston. Jackson said there would be hamburgers, hot dogs and other refreshments at the open house. However, no date has been set for the event as yet. There is still some work to be done on the station before it's complete, including finishing out the plumbing and putting doors on the cabinets. A small hot water heater may also be bought for the station later on. Jackson said a TV and VCR will be installed in the community room at the station so the Rosston Volunteer Fire Department can hold classes. Though the council met in the community room at the fire station for its February meeting, it was agreed to return to City Hall for future meetings, as this is where all the records and information are kept.
