Horace Wingfield

Horace L. Wingfield, Sr., 90, of Kilgore, Texas, died Monday, February 4, 2002, at his home.

Wingfield was born January 13, 1912, in Okolona, to Jimmy Lee and Rosa Lena Bray Wingfield.

He was a graduate of Wingfield High School near Okolona. He moved to Kilgore in 1930.

Wingfield worked in the oil field most of his life and retired after 30 years of service with the Sun Oil Company. He was a longtime member of the First Christian Church where he was a deacon.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Roxie Wingfield; four sisters and two brothers.

Survivors included a son and daughter-in-law, Horace L. Jr. and Pam Wingfield of Marshall, Texas; grandchildren, Horace L., Trip' III, and Donna Wingfield of Longview, Derek Wingfield of Longview; two great-grandchildren, Jared and Justin of Longview; brother, Melvin Wingfield of Burbank, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Pauline and Mildred Wingfield of Kilgore; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services were held Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Buddy Stovall officiating. Burial followed in Kilgore Cemetery.

Special thanks should be given to his caregivers, Frances Moseley and Ruby Manning.
