Mattie DuckettPublished Wednesday, February 6, 2002 in the Gurdon TimesMattie Burthel Duckett, 92, formerly of Gurdon, died Sunday, January 13, 2002. Duckett was a retired school teacher and of the Baptist faith. Duckett was preceded in death by her parents Modie and Beulah Thompson, a brother, Vester L. Thompson, a sister, Ruthie M. Stroud and four infant sisters. Survivors include her husband, William Donald Duckett, and a daughter, Pamela R. Duckett of Albuquerque, N.M. Funeral services were held Jan. 18, at the Church of the Nazarene in Wickes. Interment was at Duckett Cemetery, Wickes By Beasley-Wood Funeral Home, Mena.
