Dorothy Scott

Dorothy Jewel Scott, 59, of Jonesboro, died Sunday, January 13, 2002, at her home.

Born in Gurdon and living in Tulsa, Okla., she was a school teacher. She moved to Jonesboro 25 years ago, most recently working in the Brookland School District and had previously taught in Grubbs and Lynn. She was a member of the Arkansas Education Association and the Prairie Baptist Church in Lake City.

Survivors include her husband David Scott of the home; three sons, William John Scott of Dickson, Tenn., Harold Todd Scott of Louisville, Ken., and Joseph Doyle Scott of Charlston, S.C.; her mother, Jewel Wingfield of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother, Jerry Wingfield of Arkadelphia; four sisters, Sarah Elieff, Lois Wingfield, and Margaret Miracle, all of Phoenix, and Rita Pennington of Jonesboro; and two grandchildren, Rachel and Aaron Scott.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, January 16, in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Wyndel King officiating. A committal service followed in the Center Grove Cemetery in Gurdon under the direction of the Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Pallbearers serving were Dennis Gibson, Glen Thompson, Eulas Gibson, Jim Thompson, Barry Vincent, Ray Ingram, Charles Hale, and Lynn Hale.

Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Hansen, Dr. Bob Kitterman, Randal Talley, Gene Goza, and Mark Pipkins.

Those wishing to leave a lasting memorial are asked to consider the St. Bernard's Hospice Program.
