Generator doesn't sell

Rosston's City Council meeting was short and sweet as there was little on the agenda.

Rosston Mayor Lewis Jackson told the council members no bids had been made on the old generator.

The panel agreed, though, if it could be repaired, it would be good to have a backup generator should an emergency arise.

Jackson will look for a mechanic to make the repairs, but told the group the generator will have to be taken to the shop, and that won't be an easy task because of its weight.

Bailey Atkins, vice president of the Bois d Arc chapter of the Woodmen of the World, was on hand to present the city with an indoor American flag and flag pole.

The WoW had given an outdoor flag to the Rosston Volunteer Fire Department during the summer of 2001.

Jackson said the city has purchased a pole for the flag, but hasn't erected it yet.

He told the council the new fire station is almost done, with the only thing lacking being the plumbing work in the bathroom and kitchen area.

The city, he said, will eventually buy new furniture for the meeting room, as it has the money. The first things to be purchased will be four new tables and chairs for the council members.

Jackson said the auditors will be coming to Rosston to look at the water department's books this week. They should be in town for one day.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the council toured the fire station, where the VFD's newest firetruck is housed, along with the rescue vehicle and a pumper truck.
