Pearlie Sias

Pearlie Sesco Sias, 99, of Gurdon, formerly of Logan County, W. Va., died Saturday, December 29, 2001.

He was a retired logger, farmer, and coal miner.

He was a member of local UMWA #1213. He attended Cornerstone Pentecostal Church of God of Gurdon. He was the last of eight siblings.

Preceding Sias in death were his wives, Mary Wiley Sias (1963) and Letha Farris Sias (1984) and three sons, Edgar, Ervin, and David Sias.

Surviving Sias are four sons, Sesco Sias of Rossmore, W. Va., Paul E. Sias and Thomas W. Sias, both of Columbus, Ohio, and Artie S. Sias of Elizabeth, W.Va.; five daughters, Lillie M. (Irene) Dalton of Columbus, Ohio, Betty L. Jones of Gurdon, Peggy S. Hughes of Nancy, Ken., Gertrude Phillips of Washington Courthouse, Ohio, and Sarah Anice (Ann) Jones of Gurdon; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons and great-grandsons; James M. Jones, David Armstrong, Darrel W. Jones, Harold Dean Jones, Randy Chambers, and Blake Barnes. Honorary pallbearers were great-grandsons, Johnathan Armstrong and Eric Barnes.

Officiating ministers were Rev. David Barnes and Rev. Charles Borden. Funeral services were held Thursday, January 3, in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel in Gurdon. Interment was in Rose Hedge Cemetery.
